Danielle's Story: Education, Training and Professional Experience
In 2000 I earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology and in 2002 I attended the Finger Lakes School of Massage in Ithaca, NY. In 2003 I trained in Herbal Healing with the Northeast School of Botanical Medicine. I have practiced massage therapy since 2002 in New Jersey and New York State. I received advanced training in Reiki, Medical Massage, Anatomy Trains, Perinatal Massage, Infant Massage, Thai Massage and Arvigo Techniques of Mayan Abdominal Therapy®. In 2005 I shifted the direction of my practice to focus on fertility, prenatal and postnatal bodywork.
My own journey of pregnancy began with my son, who was born in 2008. I quickly learned that the sacred time of pregnancy can be simultaneously beautiful and scary. I decided to learn as much a s I could so I researched traditional birth practices, found an amazing yoga teacher, went to weekly prenatal yoga. I also attended childbirth education and worked with a midwife and birth doula.. These experiences grounded me and allowed me to feel at ease and confident during my pregnancy and prepared for childbirth. I had a powerful and transformative birth experience where I was supported by my yoga practice, a birth doula and a nurse midwife. Having traveled the sacred journey of birth, I knew I wanted to help others travel this sacred path as well.
Little did I know, years after being a single parent, I would meet Mike, my partner and husband. Love has a way of weaving its way throughout our lives. Mike and I married and our family grew. In 2020 I gave birth to our first daughter and in 2023 I gave birth to or youngest baby girl. I had two beautiful births in the comfort of our home. Again traveling the journey of pregnancy and birth this time had its own challenges. Preparing for a home birth I had to reach deep within for all the wisdom of my past and attain a new mindset which allowed these two beautiful births to unfold.
After my son was born, I trained as a Lamaze Childbirth Educator under Judith Lothian and as a Birth Doula under Debra Pascali-Bonaro with Doulas of North America International. I also trained as a Postpartum Doula with Tradition Birth Arts. I have attended Doula workshops including Breast Feeding for Doulas and Acupressure for Pregnancy, Childbirth & Postpartum.
In 2013 I attended 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training with Betsy Kase at Yoga Haven and I am a Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT) with Yoga Alliance. I completed level 1 Little Flower yoga for children with Jennifer Cohen. I received level 1 and 2 Yin Yoga training with Biff Mithoefer and Restorative Yoga training with Sue Flamm. I received Prenatal Yoga training from Kelly Devi Swellis.I am currently a Certificated Lactation Counselor and I am pursuing a certificate in Aromatherapy.
I am blessed to have been a part of the teaching staff at the Finger Lakes School of Massage in Mount Kisco, NY since its opening in 2008.
I am a New York State and NCBTMB approved provider of continuing education for Licensed Massage Therapists- provider number 1473. I am also a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider. I offer several different advanced training programs for LMTs and Yoga Teachers. I am dedicated to offering solid and informed training for LMTs and Yoga Teachers attending my workshops.

"My daughter and her partner have met with Doula Danielle several times and have learned so much: basics of childbirth, breast feeding, child care; etc. Additionally, the exercises Danielle suggested to move the baby in the breached position worked! She is knowledgeable, patient and so caring. My daughter is feeling more prepared, relaxed and confident."
-Ellen, Grandmother
"Danielle and Mike are the best! I went to see this awesome duo for prenatal massage throughout my third trimester and then for postnatal massage after my baby’s birth. Both practitioners clearly understood my needs and the physical aches, pains, and strains that come with pregnancy and life as a new mom. After I started to see Danielle and Mike, I recommended them to my sister during her pregnancy and she loved seeing them prenatally as well. I cannot recommend Danielle and Mike highly enough."
-Dana, Elementary School Teacher
"Mike and Danielle are the best! My in-home prenatal massages were amazing. I looked forward to every appointment because after the massage I felt so light and ache-free and the feeling would continue for days after the massage. Both Mike and Danielle are very professional, yet extremely personable, and truly know what they’re doing. Highly recommended!"
-Warda, new mom
"Amazing experience working with both Danielle and Michael! I saw them during pregnancy and now postpartum and I feel listened to, cared for, respected, and safe during this most intimate time in my life. I have referred friends who are parents (all genders!) or folks just needing therapeutic or holistic massage. Everyone has reported a great experience. COVID precaution measures are followed and facilitate focusing on relaxation and healing."
-Kandree, Nurse
"Fabulous pre and postnatal massages by both Danielle and Mike! They both take the necessary Covid precautions and go the extra mile by offering in-home massages. I highly recommend them both!"
-Tina, new mom
"Always an amazing experience! Danielle and Mike are true professionals. Their knowledge about the way the body works and pathology is superb. I walk in like an anxious mess in pain and I leave feeling lighter, relaxed and pain free. I highly recommend!"
-Holli, Massage Therapist
"Danielle is fabulous! I first went in for prenatal massage last summer (2020 in the midst of the pandemic, but Danielle had taken every safety precaution) and have since come in for postnatal massage. I enjoyed the first massage so much I bought a 3-pack and also gifted our babysitter with one, which she had with Mike and raved about. I can’t recommend Tree of Life Healing Arts enough!"
-Sarah, College Professor
"Danielle helped me through my fertility journey. I wasn’t sure if I could conceive a healthy baby because I was now in my 40s; she not only provided a wonderful massage but also used other healing energies to help me on my way. It didn’t take long to become pregnant, and once I was, I saw Danielle regularly for her gentle, calming, and oh-so-needed pre-natal massages. Danielle almost served as my doula as well, but she was planning her honeymoon for around the same time my son would be born, but I know she would have been PHENOMENAL! After my son was born, she continued to provide me with the occasional massage for a busy new mama! Until... SHE became pregnant! She was temporarily unavailable toward the end of her pregnancy, so she recommended her husband, Mike. Mike surpassed all of my expectations, and he is exceptional at helping me work through a lot of chronic pain and other health-related issues. You cannot go wrong with this power couple!"
-Angelina, Elementary School Teacher
"I went to Danielle early on in my pregnancy for lower back pain and left feeling like a new person. I was hesitant to get a massage while pregnant, but the moment I met Danielle I was reassured and confident I went to the right therapist. She is extremely knowledgeable and made me feel incredibly comfortable in her presence. Not only does she know what she is doing, her passion for it shines through in every detail. She’s personable and friendly, and always checks in to see if there is any particular problem area for her to work on and takes the time to explain the anatomy, what she is doing, and why. She strikes the perfect balance of knowing when to chat, and when to let you drift off quietly into your own bliss. Danielle takes every measure to make sure you are comfortable during your sessions by creating the most relaxing atmosphere using the perfect combination of light, scent, and sound. I was thoroughly impressed upon my first visit and continued to see her throughout my pregnancy. Now that my baby is here, I am eager to continue massage therapy with her and my postpartum body! I highly recommend Danielle, she is by far the best massage therapist I have ever had the pleasure of seeing."
-Jade Vincent, Elementary School Teacher
I love Danielle! I came to her three days past my due date. The massage I received was AMAZING! Danielle’s attention to detail, the pressure of the massage, and her ability to make me feel safe and comfortable was felt immediately. The massage was truly out of this world — she found knots around my neck and shoulder blades and worked on them w/such intention and care.
Right after my massage my water broke and I gave birth to a healthy baby 22 hours later.
-Liz G, Representative
I have relied on bodywork for many years due to a variety of injuries and chronic discomforts that have resulted from those injuries. I have worked with Danielle for several years now, and I find her sessions to be of great help. She is careful about some of my problem areas, and very intuitive in her massage. She is able to find the best areas to concentrate on, and to always use just the right amount of pressure on those areas. I do not say this lightly, since I have had bodywork done that left me worse off. Danielle is sensitive, careful and I am happy to have her as a part of my treatment program."
- Bruce Fizzell, Fine Art Photographer
"Danielle's is knowledgeable with deep respect for the body. She has an intuitive sense for what is needed. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone in looking for an experienced and talented massage therapist."
- Betsy Kase, Owner of Yoga Haven
Danielle is a great masseuse and overall sweet & caring person. I’ve tried both the Hot Stone Massage and Raindrop Treatment (love the YL oils!) and loved them both. Highly recommended by me.
-Angela Gilchrist, Massage Client
Danielle was a caring and steadfast advocate. She has a soothing demeanor, a calming voice and outgoing personality. The coaching and birth education class she provided (in home no less!) were an invaluable resource that gave me the confidence to make the right decisions when it came to 42nd week of pregnancy and I had to be induced. She was always quick to answer any questions that arose via text or phone calls. During my 13-hour labor she was a constant support. She logged my contraction frequency and duration, checked in with me, and was available to answer all my questions. She also helped me in and out of the tub and used aromatherapy to help with pain. She was invaluable to both me and my husband, we've both said more than once "I can't imagine what it would have been like without her".
-Joanna and Husband, Birth Doula Client – Baby Maya born January 9th 2016
I am incredibly grateful for Danielle! This sweet and kind momma helped support and love me during one of the most intense moments of my life. As a first time momma, I was super nervous to go into labor.
Danielle visited with me a few times throughout my pregnancy to help me prepare and teach me about allllll the things. When the big day came, she was there for me in ways I could not have imagined and still find it hard to put into words.
I did NOT NOT NOT want a C-section. After 24 hours in labor and pushing ... my birth plan changed and guess what ... the very thing I was most terrified of became very very real. After my boy was born and doing ok, my husband was with the baby and Danielle stayed with me for about 7 more scary hours of surgery. She was there for me through it ALLLLLLL!
We incorporated essential oils, breathing, massage, friendship and sisterhood. We laughed, we cried, we had a baby! She held my hand and was and is still a beautiful inspiring friend. I am so grateful!
